Gee I don't really know. I have leaned on the crutch of the interactive development environment all this time and don't do it by command line.

This works for me: Cliff's MBP:mac CMac$ xcodebuild -configuration Release install 2>&1 | tee build1.log

Puts the log in the mac folder under Audacity git tree.

Any more details about the compiler errors?
I suspect your compiler version might not match what the rest use.
